A current problem in the Middle East is Jordans history and resources of water. Neighboring countries such as Israel,Syria,Iran,Iraq,Turkey and Lebanon fight over the numerous rivers that run through Jordan. There are economic and political problems occuring about the shared use of water amoung the countries.Water supply is very scarce in the Middle East so it has been a monumental problem existing there. France and Britain split up the Ottoman Empire into several different countries helping to add to the problems today. If there was not so many countries, the river systems would not run through just one country. Because of France and Britain dividing the Ottoman Empire, the rivers just run through Jordan but if they never divided them the rivers wouldn't just run through one country. Back after world war one Zionist leaders wanted to form a Jewish state in Palestine because of economic benefits and Jewish rights. The Arab leaders did not advocate this idea of a Jewish sect. Because of the division back then it's effects is problems now. I would personally try and pass a law to give every neighboring country a certain amount of water because of the detrimental water problems in the Middle East. The more other countries are involved in the water systems the more trading can occur which will boost the economy.
